About Ploy Norarut
Ploy Norarut, known formally as Norarat Nararujaneetanan, is a Thai painter based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, she has called the United States home for the past decade. Her paintings are reflections of the things that move her most: light spilling across a table, the quiet beauty of ordinary moments, memories carried across continents, and the enduring presence of faith.
Art and design have always been her greatest passions. As a child, she filled the walls of her bedroom—and occasionally the living room—with drawings, much to her family's amusement. She also accompanied her mother to painting retreats, where she spent hours watching accomplished artists transform blank canvases into worlds of color and feeling. Her love for art revealed itself early. In middle school, one of her teachers was so skeptical that she had painted a coconut tree herself that he asked her to recreate it in front of the class. She did, and the result matched the original painting so closely that no further questions were asked.
After many years away from painting, Ploy picked up a brush again in 2025. What began as a return to a childhood love soon became a journey of rediscovery. Entirely self-taught and continually learning, she approaches each painting with curiosity, gratitude, and a sense of wonder.
Influenced by color, storytelling, and her faith in Christ, her work seeks to capture moments that feel both fleeting and eternal. For Ploy, painting is both a visual journal and an act of worship—a way of paying attention to the world and responding with gratitude. Through her work, she hopes to share a sense of peace, light, and wonder with those who encounter it.
